🎨 Mixed science with art by creating colorful salt paintings!

👻 Made ghosts go BOOM! with some bubbling, fizzing chemistry!

🎃 Put their pumpkin-stacking skills to the test by designing contraptions to hold as many pumpkins as possible!

There were plenty of smiles, a little mess, and a whole lot of learning! Who knew science could be so FANG-tastically fun?! 🧡🖤

🛠️ Big ideas were on the move today! Gateway Middle School’s 7th and 8th graders visited OU to put their engineering skills to the test. Working in teams, students designed and built contraptions that could lift and move objects! ⚙️💡

🎉 September Teacher of the Month, Deanice Shegog! 🎉

We are so excited to celebrate Deanice Shegog as Douglass Learning Center’s September Teacher of the Month! 💙

Deanice serves our secondary LVA students and Gateway Middle School, but anyone in our building will tell you that her impact goes far beyond her own students. She is the person who is always willing to jump in, lend a hand, answer a question, solve a problem, or help wherever she is needed. She is constantly taking care of everyone!

Deanice leads with kindness, patience, and a genuine desire to help both students and staff succeed. We are incredibly thankful for everything she brings to Douglass Learning Center, and we can’t think of anyone more deserving of this recognition. Congratulations, Deanice! 🎉💐

🔬🤖 Last Friday, our LVA Elementary students wrote an exciting new chapter at our first in-person STEM Day!

Students visited Douglass and rotated through hands-on stations led by our teachers. They made mud, built catapults, designed paths for robot cars, and explored even more exciting STEM challenges! 🧪🚗

It was a morning filled with creativity, curiosity, problem-solving, and plenty of fun. We loved watching our young scientists, engineers, and inventors bring their ideas to life! 💡📖

❄️🍧 Douglass had our first Snow Cone Day yesterday!

After lunch, the snow cone bus rolled onto campus, and our Gateway middle and high school students enjoyed a deliciously cool treat on the courtyard patio. With all this hot weather, the timing couldn’t have been sweeter! ☀️😋

We were also excited to welcome our friends from Parker Pointe to join the fun. It was the perfect way to chill out, connect, and add a refreshing new chapter to our school story! 📖💙

📖🌾 Yesterday, our LVA 5th graders added a new chapter to their story at Farm Days! Mrs. Carney’s class ventured to the Great Plains Coliseum, where they learned about agriculture and farming—and even got up close with cows, goats, chickens, and more! 🐄🐐🐓
