The nominating period for the 2017 LPS Champions for Children employee recognition program is now open! Nomination forms and letters of nomination may be submitted to the LPS Communications Office in the John Shoemaker Education Center until 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17.
Any full-time LPS employee may be nominated as a Champion for outstanding service to Lawton students, or to the district. As in the past, nominees may represent any certified or non-certified employment category. Champions are exemplified by their dedication to their profession, to students and to the Lawton Public Schools.
Past winners of Champions for Children awards are not eligible for consideration, nor will posthumous nominations be accepted. A list of past recipients can be downloaded from the link at the bottom.
Nominations must be submitted using the official form (which is also found at the bottom) and each must be accompanied by a letter of nomination that gives specific examples of the nominee's outstanding service. More than one letter of nomination may be submitted for each employee. These letters are extremely important to the evaluation process, since their quality and the examples of service they describe are the biggest factors that evaluators weigh in selecting Champions. A panel will evaluate nominations and choose up to a dozen LPS employees to be recipients of Champions for Children awards.
These individuals will be honored at the annual LPS Celebration of Education to be held at Central Middle School on Tuesday, April 18.
