The Lawton PTA Council recently recognized three students who received state awards in the Reflections contest, along with three schools with an increase in membership. The three state Reflections winners are: Molly Ghrayyeb, Award of Distinction for Intermediate Dance Choreography, Award of Distinction for Intermediate Photography; Annie Ghrayyeb, Award of Distinction for Primary Dance Choreography, Award of Merit for Primary Literature, and Award of Merit for Primary Photography; and Sophia Perry, Award of Merit for Intermediate Music Composition. There were more than 300 entries statewide in the Reflections contest. Three schools also were recognized for an increase in membership. Crosby Park received an award for the highest percent increase in membership and Edison and Cleveland received awards for 100 percent teacher membership. #WeAreLPS #LawtonPS #oklaed

Lawton High School Families: The building has taken on more water due to the heavy rain. Unfortunately, we will need to remain on virtual learning for Friday, May 2nd to complete the cleanup. GPTC and LRC classes are still taking place. There will be NO shuttles to GPTC or LRC. Please connect with your teachers if you are unable to attend those classes. LPS Family: We have been in communication with officials from City and County Emergency Management. According to flood models provided by the National Water Prediction Service, it is predicted that Lawton will be split into two sections due to the cresting of East Cache Creek, starting this evening. Due to road closures, buses may have difficulty or be unable to run their usual routes. Additionally, students and staff may not be able to travel to or from their school sites for off-campus classes. To give our families adequate time to prepare and make necessary arrangements, we have made the decision to remain virtual for Thursday, May 1. If any families are currently displaced and need assistance, please reach out to your child’s teacher so that we can help you find the necessary resources. Today is International Design Day, also known as Graphic Design Appreciation Day, and we wanted to take time to celebrate our Graphic Designers, Ash and Victoria! These two are the backbone of the creativity, design and visual identity that define #LawtonPS. Victoria has been with us for nearly a decade and single-handedly rebranded our entire district into what it is today. Her vision and dedication have shaped how we present ourselves to the world, and we couldn't have done it without her! Ash joined the team exactly one year ago, and under Victoria's mentorship, she’s already making her mark across the district. Her talent and energy have been such a gift, and we’re so lucky to have her!
